Why Do Glocks Have 2 Triggers?
Posted by
onIf you are looking for a reliable handgun that you can use for self-defense purposes, hunting purposes, or even as a law enforcement member, there is a good chance that you are turning to Glock for assistance. Several features set Glocks apart from some of the other handguns on the market. For example, Glock pistols are known to be reliable, relatively light, and incredibly durable. Another unique feature that they have involves two triggers. Why do Glock handguns have two triggers, and what purpose do they serve? There are a few essential points that you should keep in mind when it comes to Glock triggers.
The Two Triggers Serve as a Safety Purpose
The biggest reason why Glock pistols have two triggers is that this serves as a safety mechanism. Even though the safety mechanisms of Glocks can vary slightly from handgun to handgun, most Glocks do not use the same safety features as traditional handguns.
Now, this does not necessarily mean that Glock pistols are unsafe. In reality, they are among the safest guns on the market. This has to do with its dual trigger action.
When people think about two triggers, they often think about shotguns that have two barrels. Of course, Glock pistols only have one barrel, so this is not the purpose of its two triggers. For you to fire your Glock, you have to depress both triggers. Even though there is only one actual trigger on a Glock, you have to pull back those triggers if you want the gun to fire. Glocks double trigger is an important safety mechanism.
How Do the Two Triggers Work?
Ultimately, the triggers of Glock handguns work similarly to the triggers of other pistols on the market. When you pull the main trigger, this is going to strike the firing pin. The firing pin will then ignite the powder in the cartridge of the bullet. When the gunpowder lights, this will create a small explosion, which generates the energy required to push the bullet out of the barrel.
Even though there is only one true trigger, which is responsible for striking the firing pin, the firing pin is not going to be struck completely unless boat triggers are depressed. If you have had issues with other pistols firing accidentally, this will not be a problem with the Glock. The safety mechanism is secure. You will not be able to fire the Glock unless both triggers are pressed. It will be impossible for the firing pin to strike if you only pull the actual trigger without pressing the safety trigger as well.
Doesn’t Pressing Two Triggers Make the Glock Pistol More Fatiguing?
Some people are concerned that if they have to press two triggers, the Glock pistol might be more tiring. They imagine having to do twice the amount of work to fire a Glock. In reality, this is not the case.
First, a Glock pistol is still incredibly light compared to some other options on the market. Therefore, even though you have to press two triggers, your hand is not necessarily going to get more tired.
Second, Glock pistols tend to have a relatively light trigger pull weight compared to some other guns. This means that you will not have to press the trigger as hard to fire your pistol.
Finally, a Glock also has relatively few moving parts, allowing you to change your Glock if you want to alter your firing style. For example, it may take some people a little while to get used to the square trigger mechanism of a Glock. There are modifications that you can make upgrade your Glock so that it better suits your needs.
