Adjusting Your Glock Connector for Reliable Firing
Posted by
onA Glock not firing can be frustrating, but often the issue lies with the connector. This small part is crucial for proper trigger function, and sometimes a simple bend angle adjustment is all it takes to get your Glock back in action. This blog post will walk you through the adjustment process.
The Problem: Connector Lift
If your Glock's trigger feels dead and the gun doesn't fire, the problem often stems from insufficient "lift" on the connector. The connector needs to be lifted far enough away from the trigger housing to function correctly. Conversely, too much lift can cause slide drag. Both issues can be addressed with a bend angle adjustment.
The Solution: Bend Angle Adjustment
This adjustment is a manual process that involves manipulating the connector's angle. Here's how:
- Disassembly: Safely disassemble your Glock, removing the back plate and slide. Important: Do not pull the trigger during disassembly.
- Connector Access: Access the trigger housing where the connector sits.
- Initial Assessment: Observe the connector's lift. Is it too low, causing a failure to fire? Or is it too high, causing slide drag?
- Adjustment for Failure to Fire (Low Lift):
- Remove the connector (and trigger bar if desired).
- Rotate the connector 180 degrees clockwise and place it back into the trigger housing incorrectly.
- Position your finger or thumb to lift the connector upwards.
- Apply gentle pressure while giving the connector three quick "tugs" or bends.
- Re-orient the connector correctly. You should now see increased lift.
- Adjustment for Slide Drag (High Lift):
- With the connector in the correct orientation, position your finger or thumb to press down on the connector.
- Apply gentle downward pressure while giving the connector three quick "tugs" or bends.
- You should see the connector now sit slightly lower.
- Reassembly and Testing: Reassemble your Glock and test its functionality. If the gun now fires reliably, you've successfully adjusted the connector. If you were addressing slide drag, check if the issue is resolved.
Important Considerations:
- Caution: This process involves manipulating internal components of your firearm. If you are not comfortable with this, seek assistance from a qualified gunsmith.
- Fine-Tuning: The "three tugs" are a guideline. You may need to repeat the process with slightly more or less pressure to achieve the desired lift.
- Call Ghost Inc. for Help: If you encounter any difficulties or are unsure about any part of the process, don't hesitate to contact Ghost Inc. directly for assistance. They are the experts on these components and can provide valuable guidance.
By understanding the role of the connector and how to adjust its bend angle, you can keep your Glock running smoothly and reliably.
