Glock 26 - Dependable and Easy To Upgrade

Posted by Ghost Inc on

Anyone looking for a 9 mm for a backup handgun or even for something like home protection will do well with a Glock 26, and for good reason. The Glock 26 has a strong following, is dependable, and has a very small learning curve – field stripping and cleaning a Glock is as quick as it is easy.

The Glock 26 is almost 40 years old and was designed around the concept of law enforcement needing a compact yet reliable concealed carry or backup weapon. The Glock 26 is the sub-compact of the original Glock 17, with the Glock 19 as a point between the two.

The beauty of the previous generations of the Glock 26 is a chance to improve upon what is already considered a stellar firearm. The beauty of the Glock 26 is that a new handgun user can buy it, the 17 or 19, and have a full understanding of the Glock handgun as a whole.

The magazine capacity of the Glock 26 is ten in a double-stack magazine. The 26 is also great for anyone with small hands, even with the double-stack magazine. If you have a 17 or 19 in addition, you can run those magazines in the 26. Feeling exceptional? Try the 33 round monstrosity – it slides into the 26 without any problems.

Upgrades for the 26 are not as plentiful as there are for some other Glock models. This does not mean you cannot find excellent options for upgrades. These are the ones we recommend.

Glock 26 Upgrades - Sights

Glock sights are fairly simplistic, and if you are looking for a firearm to have as a compact carry or backup weapon, upgrading the sights is a stellar decision.

Upgrading the sights on your Glock 26 comes down to one of two options – iron sights or a red dot. The red dot sight needs to sit up and off of the slide, and, in our opinion, would defeat the purpose of upgraded sights. For this reason, the use of standard iron sights is recommended.

Therefore, the best option for upgraded sights on the 26 are night sights. Night sights are designed to glow in low light conditions, optimal for home protection or concealed carry. The bright glow gives you a faster sight picture and line of sight on your target.

The only drawback to sights on a Glock is you will need a tool to replace them. Your local gun store or smith can certainly give you a hand for a minor charge.

Glock 26 Upgrades - Extended magazine release

The small size of the Glock 26 means the magazine release can be hard to manipulate, particularly if you have small hands. Since many with small hands like the feel of the Glock 26, upgrading to an extended magazine release is a solid upgrade choice.

Many who shoot Glocks elect for the extended magazine release upgrade, but there is the drawback of accidentally hitting the release and prematurely dropping the magazine. This is a simple fix remedied with regular practice and shooting.

Glock 26 Upgrades - Slide Cover Plates

The ultimate in personalization of the Glock 26 is the slide cover plate. The slide cover plate is the metal piece on the back of the slide. The standard stock piece is drab and boring, but it is easily upgraded with a variety of options.

Ghost Inc. offers plenty of upgrades for your Glock 26 and any other Glock product you may have. We offer some of the best aftermarket products and stellar customer service.

In the meantime, keep it in the ten ring!
