The Glock 35 – The .40 Competition Glock
Posted by
onBack in the 1980’s the wildcat .40 S&W round was considered a fad and would not stick around that long. After all, it appeared there were much better rounds available.
That was then. This is now, and now the .40 S&W is the de facto round for the majority of law enforcement and in the Spec Ops crowd. If you have considered owning a .40 S&W, you have certainly considered the Glock for your handgun of choice – if you can find one. Glocks, and the .40 S&W in particular, do fly out of gun stores with regularity.
Glock 35 For Competition Shooting
The Glock 35 is the big brother caliber to the Glock 34, a model we have discussed in this blog. The Glock 35 was designed specifically around competition shooting, and it is commonly seen in the USPSA, NRA, and IDPA competitions. The slide is extra long, allowing for longer sights and better accuracy. The 35 does have some cut-outs that decrease the weight, which can be an issue for some shooters who are a bit recoil-sensitive. Practice will certainly overcome this problem, and the additional power offsets the lighter weight.
The Glock 35 is not practical for concealed carry or much outside of competition and law enforcement. If you are looking for a .40 S&W, this is not the model we would recommend. The pistol is more tactical than anything and made ready for follow-up shots.
Those who love a traditional 1911 frame but are looking for something in a Glock will find the Glock 35 to be their ideal choice in both its size and feel. The model is also great for competition shooting, a sidearm for hunting, and something to keep in the nightstand when at home. There is real versatility in the Glock 35, along with the other elements that make Glock great - dependability, easy to clean, and shooter friendly.
Glock 35 Upgrades
Since this is better for the competition shooter, what the Glock 35 needs are the small elements that subtract milliseconds of time for the competition shooter. No aftermarket upgrade is going to decrease the shooting speeds significantly. Instead, it will take a few different pieces that will make the difference. This is why Ghost Inc. has the perfect upgrade for your Glock 35.
Ghost Inc. mentioned the barrel upgrade in the Glock 34 blog article, and it is worth reading that particular article to see why. We recommend a spring upgrade for the Glock 35, which will also work for the Glock 34.
A spring upgrade may not seem necessary, but one significant advantage of an aftermarket spring is faster cycling of the slide and ejected round. There are various weights for the spring, so those who really want to have a good time with their Glock 35 can mix and match springs to meet their specific needs.
Change your spring based on the specific needs of the range and type of shooting event you are attending.
There are plenty of other excellent upgrades for your Glock 35 available through Ghost Inc. All you need to do is check the website for our multitude of options. Don’t forget about our stellar customer service, either.
Thanks for reading!
In the meantime, keep it in the ten ring!
